Join me in my home kitchen, in the heart of the countryside in north Milton Keynes, for courses in discovering, making and preparing sourdough, as well as using different flours, and other ways to use sourdough starter.
I have currently two courses available, an ‘introduction to sourdough’ course for anyone new to sourdough or baking, and ‘perfecting your sourdough’ for those already familiar with sourdough baking, full details below.
*Milton Keynes is easily accessible via train and motorway; all directions to my property will be provided.

An introduction to sourdough and making your first loaves
Time: 10am start, 1.30 – 2pm finish
Cost: special introductory price of £75 per person
This course is perfect for anyone new to sourdough; no previous experience of sourdough or baking is required.
Courses are for 2 people only*; come with a friend or relative, or make a new friend on the day.

What sourdough is and how it differs from other bread.
What equipment is required to bake sourdough and why, and what alternatives could you use from your own kitchen.
What sourdough starter is, how to use it and maintain it, and keep it alive forever. We will be feeding some starter and seeing how it grows and becomes active.
Learn how to prepare your first loaf, learn the pulls and folds action to build up the dough, how to prepare the dough for baking and scoring the dough.
Ideas for using sourdough starter in different ways
And whilst the loaves bake, enjoy a snack and a cup of tea 🙂
*You will be getting your hands into some dough, aprons will be provided, and gloves if you’d prefer, but I would still suggest that you don’t wear anything too special!
Tea, coffee & water available all day.
Light snack of my homemade delights, including, of course, something sourdough based.
Please let me know any dietary requirements and/or allergies.
All ingredients and apparatus provided.
Leave with a packet of foodbod Sourdough dried starter & a freshly baked loaf with a foodbod Sourdough bread bag.
*Please note that due to the nature of sourdough and the long proving required, we will not be able to make and bake a loaf entirely from scratch within the lesson time. I will, however, have dough ready for you to perform the final prep, prove and scoring for us to then bake them together; you will also be preparing new dough too to experience every part of the process. I will nurture, complete and bake these loaves myself, unless you choose to book the follow on course for the consecutive day, and if you live locally you would be very welcome to come and collect it the next day – otherwise my son will happily eat it!
